Immunization Overview
Receiving childhood immunizations is one of the most important things you can do to keep your child(ren) healthy. Our practice offers two possible vaccine schedules for primary childhood immunizations--the "standard" schedule and the "alternate" schedule. Both schedules offer equal protection and lasting immunity. The alternate schedule has been developed since a vaccine called Pediarix® became available. Pediarix® combines three vaccines into one shot (Hepatitis B, DTaP, and IPV). The alternate schedule offers fewer shots (18 vs. 23) but also may result in a slightly higher degree of post-vaccination fever. Consult with Dr. Binder if you would like more information or guidance in choosing an immunization schedule for your child.
